Report to the Liturgy Committee

What have I accomplished in 11 years at St. Mary’s? It is a fair question to ask, and one that has, in fact, not been asked of me, although I very frequently engage in self-audit. It was apparent to me before I graduated from college that my entire lifetime would be a transitional time in terms of Roman Catholic liturgy and music. I have tried to keep that in mind while I endeavored to push along the development of congregational singing wherever I happened to serve. I also tried to develop choirs that served the liturgy instead of themselves, or the music (what is called "singing the Liturgy"). And I tried to entice young people to become musicians, and to form them in Liturgical Music and Theology.
