Last week’s answer is 70x7 Jesus wanted to impress upon him the importance of forgiving.
This week’s question. The word gospel literally means (a) orthodox (b) holy (c) prophetic (d) good news

This week Jesus delivers his Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. Stop and think am I blessed? Am I blessed with material things, am I famous, am I carefree, having few if not any responsibilities? You may be and there is nothing wrong with this, but this is not what Jesus was talking about. He wanted us to know the true meaning of being blessed, he wants us to know that to be blessed and happy we should believe Jesus, try to make the world a better place, help those less fortunate than we are, in other words follow Jesus’ teachings. This week make a card with the Beatitudes on it, cut this out, copy this, or stop in the Religious Ed Office for a copy. Put it someplace you will see it often, my copy is on my computer monitor. Have a blessed week as we go toward the Holy Lenten Season.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are who when they insult you and persecute you speaking falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”
Matthew 5:1-12
