Scripture Reflection

“This is my Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” God’s words to Peter, James and John, can you imagine the shock and confusion of the three? They certainly had a lot to mull over didn’t they? Just a week ago Jesus had told them about being put to death by the priests, now he is standing on the mountain surrounded and filled with light, talking to Moses and Elijah, and to top it all off God spoke to them!

During this time of Lent we are focused upon giving something up, fasting from a favorite food, thinking about our sins and why Jesus had to die so we could be forgiven. This is an appropriate thing to do; however, the transfiguration gave Peter, James and John a chance to take a peek at what glory was to come.
We can do this too, let us look at our future with God, the glory, light, meditate, imagine yourself on the mountain with Jesus. Open your heart to Jesus, let him in to help you with the difficulties of your day, let him help you become someone in whom God is “well pleased.”
