Continuing Business: -CAPS: Eva Diaz, from the Archdiocese, was at the meeting. There was discussion about other parishes dealing with similar circumstances, and ways in which the three parishes work together now. The next meeting will be April 16, hoping to have some representatives from other parishes that have gone through a consolidation at the meeting. Fr. Karl Acker is planning to retire in June, 2009.
-Bus. Administrator Report: Stewardship forms: approximately 1/3 have been turned in. Post card reminders will be sent to those who haven't returned a form yet. -Kim and Vern Schmit met with the Kohn Law Firm from Milwaukee about the Marion Heights case. This firm would charge St. Mary 33% of the settlement. They specialize in this type of legal action. -Due to weather, there has been no roof work done on the school. -Quotes for the new church boilers are still coming in. -St. Mary Parish may hire a firm to do payroll- it would cost about $100/month. -St. Mary Parish will not be increasing its donation to the Stewardship Appeal, it will stay at $29,000.
-Other Business: Port Catholic is looking to expand the use of the Scrip program. They are considering having it more accessible at both churches, with some of the profits going to each church.
-It was noted that the Catholic Stewardship Appeal always kicks off during Lent to coincide with Lenten alms giving.
