This week the Herodians and the Pharisees continue to try and trip Jesus up. You would think they would give up on that wouldn’t you? They ask him if the Jewish people should have to pay taxes. If Jesus says yes, he will be going against the Jewish people, if he says no, he will be going against Roman law. Seems like he can not win, but of course Jesus can answer and teach a lesson at the same time.
Jesus asks for a coin and asks whose picture is on it. It is Caesar’s likeness. Then Jesus says the people should pay Caesar’s what is his and God what is God’s. He is teaching that we need to keep things in proper perspective.
This week as a family talk about the importance of all the activities you do, and there are a lot of them! Then pray together to help keep things in perspective, and to keep God first in your lives.
