This past October, seven of Port Catholic’s classrooms at St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s had “Smart Boards” installed in them. These consist of the board themselves, a LCD projector, the necessary wires, cables and a dedicated computer. The hardware and software for each of these units costs approximately $4,500.

The boards themselves can be easily and permanently damaged if used incorrectly. They can not be written on or used unless the special electronic markers, which are part of the system, the LCD, and the dedicated computer, are being properly employed.

Port Catholic wishes to make it clear that it will hold fiscally responsibly any individual or organization who use any of these units without the explicit approval of the school. Unless otherwise prearranged, these units will be preprogrammed to not function when anyone other than the school is using a classroom.
