Seven and a half years ago, on January 13, 2001, a powerful earthquake hit the small Central American country of El Salvador. Luckily, the rural community where I was serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer was not too badly affected, however their modest auxiliary church did suffer non-repairable damages. Money collected, along with donations from some church's was used to start construction in 2007. With these funds, they were able to buy a new plot of land, have it leveled, and erect the walls. They have since run out of funding and construction has come to a halt. Their overall estimate to complete the building is about $20,000, however their most pressing need is the roof with an estimate of $6,000. I am trying to help them raise at least part of this amount through a Candle Fundraiser. Please call Michelle Wunderlin-Juarez at 262-284-0804 for more information.
