SOCIAL JUSTICE: World Aids Day December 1

More people receive antiretroviral therapies than at any other time in history, and AIDS deaths have declined. Traditionally, the U.S. has been a world leader in fighting AIDS, but the newly elected U.S. president and members of Congress must be reminded that achieving political commitments made on HIV/AIDS will require building on past successes, improved coordination and increased financial resources. A bill, which includes reauthorizing the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and increasing aid, has been passed by Congress, but has not been fully funded. It is important to remain vigilant of these funding levels as the new president makes his budget proposals and the Congress appropriations committees meet to set the budget in February, 2009.
Contact Congress members with your support, and join people all over the world in prayer for the victims of HIV/AIDS on December 1.
