Easter Flowers for the Homebound

Next weekend, as part of Palm Sunday, parishioners have the opportunity to deliver Easter flowers, a Palm, and a Sunday bulletin, to parishioners who are homebound, or in a nursing home. Because the response for the donation request at Christmas, for poinsettias, was so overwhelming, we have enough money for Easter flowers for all Catholics in nursing homes in Port. There are a number of Catholics who made their home in Port to be closer to their children, are now in a nursing home, and whose “home” parish is not St. Mary’s or St. Peter’s. But, they are on the communion visit list at the nursing home. By distributing Easter flowers to all nursing home Catholics, and homebound parishioners, the Human Concerns Committee felt that it would be a great way to spread our mission of outreach, and remember fellow Catholics at this very special and holy time of the Church year. If you know of a homebound parishioner that needs to be placed on the list, please call Mary McHugh or the parish office. All those in Port nursing homes are on the list. |
