St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s College Connection
By St Mary Administrator @ 3:01 PM :: 188 Views :: Article Rating :: Youth Ministry News

… Remembering and encouraging our members in college!

That time of year is coming up on us again – Finals! That means it is College Connection time – when we send “care packages” to those attending college, whether at home or away, before exam time. So we need addresses of those members of our communities who are currently enrolled in college. If you gave us the address in the fall and it has not changed, the package will be sent to that address. If you missed it last semester, it is not too late to submit the names and address for the spring semester. You can mail the address to the Youth Ministry Office, 1802 N Wisconsin, drop it off at either parish office or you may put them in an envelope in the Sunday collection at either parish (make sure you write “Youth Ministry – College Connection” on the outside of the envelope). You can also e-mail the address to portyouth@catholic.org or submit the address at www.portyouth.org.

To continue the success of this program, we need your help. There are two ways you can do so: Make a cash donation to help defray the cost of postage to mail these packages. (Checks can be made payable to “Youth Ministry” and put in an envelope marked “Youth Ministry-College Connection” and dropped in the collection baskets at either parish or mailed to the Youth Ministry Office.) Choose several items below and bring them to Church with you on the weekends of April 18-19, 25-26 and May 2-3 and put them in the box in the gathering area. Or you may drop off your items at either parish office or St. Peter’s school office—make sure you indicate the items are for College Connection – by May 4.

Appropriate Items Include: Wrapped Candy, Gum, mints; Individually wrapped cookies, snack size crackers & cheese, Kool-Aid/Crystal Light; Coffee, tea or cocoa packets; Snack size chips and pretzels; Pop Tarts, Granola bars/Fruit bars, Microwave popcorn, Raisins, trail mix, Fruit roll ups, Cup of soup, Ramen, Dried Fruit, Instant cereal packets, Prayer Cards, Individual Kleenex, Highlighters, pens, pencils, note pads. Use your imagination!!! Please AVOID: Any heavy items, perishable items, items larger than a shoebox, or any medications.

You are also welcome and invited to help prepare the care packages (sorting, packing, mailing) on Monday, May 4 at 6:00 PM at St. Peter’s Cafeteria. Families are welcome! Great service opportunity for youth! (It’s fun, too)

Please call Maureen Rotramel, Youth Minister, at 262-284-2102 ext. 15 if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!
