St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s College Connection
By St Mary Administrator @ 10:45 AM :: 145 Views :: Article Rating :: Youth Ministry News

Remembering and encouraging our members in college! What is it? This ministry is our way of communicating with the college students from our parishes. This communication happens twice a year and involves sending a “shoe box care package” to our students before exam time each semester. We Need Student’s Addresses: If you have a son or daughter from the parish in college whether living at home or away and would like them to receive a care package, you must give us his or her current mailing address. We can only send the packages to students whose current mailing addresses are given to us. Email, mail or call them into the Youth Ministry Office or drop them into the Sunday Collection basket labeled “College Connection.” You can also submit addresses at www.portyouth.org on the “College Connection” page. There are two ways you can help: Make a $$ donation to help defray the cost of postage to mail these packages. (They can get expensive!) Checks can be made payable to “Youth Ministry” and put in an envelope marked “Youth Ministry-College Connection” and dropped in the collection baskets at either parish or mailed to the Youth Ministry Office. Choose several items below and bring them to Church with you on the weekends of November 14-15, 21-22 or 28-29 and put them in the box in the gathering area. Or you may drop off your items at either parish office or St. Peter’s school office—make sure you indicate the items are for College Connection. Appropriate Items Include:
Wrapped Candy Small chip bags
Gum, mints Individually wrapped cookies
Snack size crackers & cheese Kool-Aid/Crystal Light
Coffee, tea or cocoa packets Snack size chips and pretzels
Pop Tarts Granola bars/Fruit bars
Microwave popcorn Stickers and Stamps

Please AVOID: Any heavy items, perishable items, large shoeboxes, items larger than a shoebox, or any medications. Please drop off items at Church on the weekends of November 14-15, 21-22 or 28-29 or deliver your items to either parish office or St. Peter’s School Office by November 30. You are also welcome and invited to help prepare the care packages (sorting, packing, mailing) on Monday, November 30 at 6:30 PM in St. Peter’s Cafeteria. Families are welcome! Great service opportunity for youth! (It’s fun, too) Please contact Maureen Rotramel, Youth Minister, at 262-284-2102 ext. 15or portyouth@catholic.org if you have any questions Thank you for your support!
