Last week's answer: the Magi brought gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold signifies that Jesus will be King, because it is precious and valuable across all cultures. Frankincense comes from a tree in Arabia. Cuts are made in the tree and the dried sap is collected. It was used as medicine at the time, it was also used as incense, it was burned by the priests while praying, the belief was that the smoke carried the prayers to heaven. It symbolized Jesus ministry as a priest and teacher. Myrrh, is a resin produced by a tree in North Africa and the Red Sea. It was even more valuable than gold. At the time gold was worth about $600.00 a pound. Frankincense was worth $4,000.00. It was used in healing, but it's main use was for embalming purposes after someone died. It foretold of the Sacrifice Jesus would make for us.
This week's question. Who baptized Jesus? Have a blessed week.
