The Dark Side of the Internet (and cell phones too!) on January 26, 2010, 7:00 PM -9:00 PM at Lumen Christi, Mequon in St. James Hall. Sponsored by the Christian Formation ministries of District 10 (Ozaukee and Southern Sheboygan Counties). While the Internet offers a world of educational and entertainment options for young people, it also has a dark and dangerous side of which we must be aware. This presentation on the online exploitation of children includes real-life examples and practical advice for anyone interested in the safety and well-being of our children. Topics include techniques used by predators, what types of kids are most vulnerable, and the importance of filters and monitoring software as well as the risks of social networking sites like My Space and Facebook, cell phones and sexting, pornography, online gaming, and chat rooms.
Eric has been a Special Agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice/ Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) since 1991. He’s currently assigned to the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Milwaukee, Since 1999, Eric has become of the nation’s leading officers in apprehending sexual predators of children who use the Internet to seduce or exploit children.
