from Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki December 2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As I approach my one year anniversary as your archbishop, I give thanks to God for blessing me with the opportunity of being your shepherd. God is good, and as I look back on the year, I am grateful for everything I’ve experienced and all of the new relationships I’ve developed. Celebrating Mass and events at parishes and schools, administering the sacrament of Confirmation, visiting the sick, and saying Mass for thousands at the summer festivals are just some of the memories I will cherish from this past year. Each occasion was a gift and provided yet another opportunity for me to help build the kingdom of God here on earth.
As Christmas approaches I am reminded that God gives each of us the gift of new beginnings every year when we celebrate His greatest gift to us, and to all of mankind, the birth of Jesus Christ. This Christmas, I ask you to keep Christ present in all you say and do. Remember that this special day is more than just a holiday – it is a Holy Day. It’s a day to give thanks and praise and to remember that because of Christ’s birth all things are made new!
May God grant you all the blessings of family and friends during this blessed season and into the new year. See you at Mass!
Sincerely yours in Christ, The Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki Archbishop of Milwaukee
P.S. This is a great time of year to invite a friend or family member to join you for Christmas Mass!
