SOCIAL JUSTICE: SPEAKING OUT FOR PEACE
By St Mary Administrator @ 10:33 AM :: 151 Views :: Article Rating :: Social Justice

The poet, W.H. Auden, wrote:

I know nothing, except what everyone
knows--if there when Grace dances,
I should dance.

As a Christian community, we believe in the peace of Christ. May this year, 2011, be the year that we all witness Grace dancing--in compassion, in love, in mercy, in joy, and in peace. And when we see her, may we have enough presence of mind to join in the dance...

Peace Prayers for the Season:

God of shepherds and all the poor,
God of magi and all who wander,
Make bright this year’s long night
With a bonfire of battle gear.
Make this season loud with the joyful sound
Of every kind of weapon
Being beaten, beaten, beaten
Into the kind tools of common people.
Then with every creature
Shall we sing the angels’ song of glory and of peace.

(Gabe Huck, from GRANT US PEACE)

Lord, our God,
You have given all peoples one common origin,
And your will is to gather them
As one family in yourself.
Fill the hearts of all with the fire of your love
And the desire to ensure justice
For all their brothers and sisters.
By sharing the good things you give us
May we secure justice and equality
For every human being,
An end to all division
And a human society built on love and peace.

Mary, Queen of peace, we entrust our lives to you. Shelter us from war, hatred and oppression. Teach us to live in peace, to educate ourselves for peace. Inspire us to act justly, to revere all God has made. Root peace firmly in our hearts and in our world.
(John Paul II)
