Something New About the Mass

The Gloria: The Gloria is definitely different in the new translation of our Roman Missal. In keeping with a closer translation of the Latin, all the different praises of God have been restored. Among other changes, you will now hear a litany-like group of praises at the start of the Gloria: “We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.”
The large amount of change in the Gloria has necessitated the rewriting of music and led to entire new musical settings. So we can look forward to learning some new music along with our new responses at Mass. More on the Gloria next week!
