Poinsettias for the Homebound
By St Mary Administrator @ 8:32 AM :: 259 Views :: Article Rating :: Human Concerns

Next weekend, as part of Advent, parishioners have the opportunity to deliver a poinsettia plant, a card made by 3rd and 4th graders, and a Sunday bulletin, to parishioners who are homebound, or in a nursing home. There are a number of Catholics who made their home in Port to be closer to their children, are now in a nursing home, and whose “home” parish is not St. Mary’s or St. Peter’s. But, they are on the communion visit list at the nursing home. By distributing Poinsettias to all nursing home Catholics, and homebound parishioners, it is a great way to spread our mission of outreach, and remember fellow Catholics at this very special and holy time of the Church year. If you know of a homebound parishioner that needs to be placed on the list, please call Mary McHugh or the parish office. All those in Port nursing homes are already on the list.

Also next weekend, envelopes will still be in the pews, for donation of money, to be used towards the purchase of the poinsettias for those who are homebound or in a nursing home. Each poinsettia costs $4, but any amount will be greatly appreciated. Place in the collection basket, give to an usher, or drop off at the parish office. Many thanks from your Human Concerns Committee.
