This often raises difficult emotions in some of the people of any community, from fear to guilt and even outrage. Emotions like these have been on ready display to those who were canvassing in our neighborhoods for this candidate, to the point of profanity and outrageous comments about lynching and assassination. Under these circumstances, any rational understanding about race is difficult.
