During the time spent on the mission trip the participants contribute their time and talents by house painting, light construction including home repair and building, child care, working in a food pantry – wherever the greatest need is in the community. In the evenings, there is time for fellowship, reflection, prayer as well as fun! One free day is available to the groups to explore the area in which they are working.

… Remembering and encouraging our members in college! What is it? This ministry is our way of communicating with the college students from our parishes. This communication happens twice a year and involves sending a “shoe box care package” to our students before exam time each semester. We need student’s addresses: If you have a son or daughter from the parish in college whether living at home or away and would like them to receive a care package, you must give us his or her current mailing address. We can only send the packages to students whose current mailing addresses are given to us. E-mail, mail or call them into the Youth Ministry Office or drop them into the Sunday Collection basket labeled “College Connection.” There are two ways you can help:

They will be doing things like painting fences, working in homeless shelters, weeding gardens and picking up trash. This trip has proved to be a life changing experience for many of the youth and adults involved. College Connection – Addresses Needed
The Youth Ministry Office will be continuing the College Connection program, where we send care packages to college students each semester during finals, but we need your help! If you have a son or daughter currently enrolled in college, whether they live at home or away, we need their current mailing address. We can only send the packages to students with updated addresses. (Students typically move each year and these packages will not be forwarded.) You can mail the address to the Youth Ministry Office, 1802 N Wisconsin, drop it off at either parish office or you may put them in an envelope in the Sunday collection at either parish (make sure you write “Youth Ministry – College Connection” on the outside of the envelope). You can also e-mail the address to portyouth@catholic.org.
Donations of items will take place November 12-13 and 19-20. Any questions, contact Maureen Kavanaugh, Youth Minister, at 284-2102 ext. 15 or by e-mail at portyouth@catholic.org. Information will also soon be available on our web site: www.portyouth.org.
