A Living Saint
By St Mary Administrator @ 2:18 PM :: 1 Views :: :: Community News
A LIVING SAINT??  So called by Archbishop Dolan, Bishop Abraham Desta of Ethiopia will be interviewed at Marquette University on Monday, October 20th at the Monaghan Ballroom of the Alumni Memorial Union. There will be a reception at 6:30 pm with program to begin at 7:00 pm. Bishop Desta’s diocese is at the spear-point of the Global Food Crisis and faces massive shortages and a deadly, potentially widespread famine. His diocese is 99% Muslim. His far-reaching social service and development outreach serves all and has focused in the areas of water and education. Bishop Desta will be interviewed by Catholic Relief Services, his partner in doing God’s work. Come and learn more of the plight of the truly poor and how our Church responds. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Scouting For Food
By St Mary Administrator @ 2:13 PM :: 1 Views :: :: Community News
The Boy Scout Scouting For Food campaign is scheduled for Saturday, October 25. Hopefully you have already received a bag at your home for you to fill with donations of food that are still within the “Best If Used By” dates. If you did not receive a bag, please use any plastic bag that you choose, and leave it outside your door. The Scouts will pick it up and bring it to The Food Pantry. Help will also be needed at the pantry that day.

Do You Dream to Change the World?
By St Mary Administrator @ 2:45 PM :: 16 Views :: :: Community News
Join me (Douglas David Pasniak) to change the world. I am a Catholic whose life has been transformed to build a Dream orphanage for homeless children in the Philippines by 2010! This Dream began because of a little girl who slept on the street as the world passed her by. Faced with a life and economic hardships we can’t even comprehend, as she lay there, I felt compelled from my heart to promise God I would return and help all I could. A promise that has enlightened me from my Christian values to use my many talents and gifts to give up my life, my career (I’m a Wisconsin licensed school counselor) and what I know to gain something far greater. The community is supportive and our 501(c)(3) organization is growing but we need the help of others who want to change part of the world with us. Become part of a movement, become my friend and “literally” know the children you will help—Lets make a difference together.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? Come to the social concert, Music To Change the World. WHERE? The beautiful and spectacular St. Joseph Center - 1501 S. Layton Blvd. Milwaukee - (Corner of 29th and Greenfield Ave). WHAT? Enjoy Jazz, spirituality and a Catholic transformation story while feasting on hors d’oeuvres grand enough to feed royalty! WHO? Adults and children - (There will be activities for children). Cost? Just bring your heart. WHEN? Saturday October 25, 2008. TIME? 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. We Need You to Make Children’s Dreams Come True!!! For more info: DougsDream.com or 414-303-4770.
